Ciao a tutti!!

Finally, last night, I met with my family that I will be living with for the next 6 weeks.  Let me just tell you that I am so excited about this.  When I met the family today, I couldn't help but smile all day long! They are seriously so precious!  There is Gaia (Mom), Andrea (Dad), Viola (12), Leonardo (8), and Lapo (6). Whoever set me up with this family was seriously looking out for me.  These kids are seriously making me so anxious for my future of teaching elementary school.

Today, we started our first day of classes.  I am taking an Integrative Arts and Humanities Class focusing on Great Ages: The Medieval and Early Modern Worlds and Renaissance Art.  This class is Mon-Thurs. 10AM-12 NOON. We got to know a little bit about the history of Florence (where I am).  It was pretty cool to learn about where we are living for the next 6 weeks.  After class, we went and ate at a small ristorante which had delicious food! Of course, we went to the famous Gelateria that was called "Gelateria dei Neri".  Let me just say, I cannot wait to go back and have the mouth watering, mango and berry gelato that I had early today!

And for the most exciting part...I started my Italian class today. This class is Mon-Thurs from 1:45PM-4:15PM (the perks of being abroad - you're not always taking classes!) Let me just tell you, it has never felt to good to be back in the swing of things.  I am so happy that I have the chance to take my Italian studies further.

Not only am I thankful for this amazing opportunity that has been brought upon me, but I am incredibly blessed.  I would not have been able to do this without the great support system that I have and I want to give a special shout out to my AMAZING parents who have dealt with the crazy ideas that I have had for the last 4 years.  Not many people can say they have been to Italy 3 times, and I know most people can't say that they have been here 3 times in the last 4 years!

I am beyond excited for the adventures to come throughout my 6 weeks here!
A presto!
Mary
