Buongiorno!

I am pleased to say that I survived my first week of classes.  Today, we had our final Integrative Arts and Humanities class for the week.  In class today we discussed the importance of Boccaccio. We read many of the stories from his famous book Decameron.  We learned different life lessons during each of the short stories comprised in this novel, life lessons that I am going to take with me for the rest of my life! Wahoo, I'm learning!

The last day of Italian class for the week was actually very enjoyable.  We started by having a quiz (this was not the enjoyable part).  After our quiz, we learned about different grammar "surprises" (for Signora Modica and Signora Weber - we learned that some verbs in the passato prossimo use both avere or essere depending on their meaning- who would've thought?).  After this somewhat tedious grammar lesson, we played a game.  We all took post-its and wrote someone famous on them, then we were put the post-it on someones forehead.  This person then had to guess who was on their forehead by asking ONLY yes or no questions in ITALIAN, of course.  I ended up having Tiger Woods.  I narrowed it down that he is a man who is still living, plays a sport, lives in the United States, and is not very old.  I couldn't get it until the hint that I got in Italian was that he liked women a lot :)

After Italian class, it rained, it poured, and now...it's sunny.  Talk about trying to get away from the Midwest's indecisive weather...there is truly no escape!

That's about it for today.  Tomorrow we are going to a fattoria where they have a cheese tasting class set up for us!  This will be pretty cool, be prepared for a long post on every kind of cheese that I try tomorrow!

Week one of school is done.  I cannot believe how fast this experience is already going.  If only you all could be here with me!

Vi voglio bene [I love you all]
